Walls of Fort Worden
Fort Worden is a hundred year old military bunker on the Puget Sound in Washington. Friends introduced me to the historic site when our kids played Murder in the Dark there in the wet, dark underground halls and passageways. Each crumbling wall was a discovery that looked like a painting: Agnes Martin, Klimt, Rothko, complex beautiful abstract patterns.
After I printed the wall photographs on kozo paper I sewed on the paper with metallic and cotton thread transforming the photographs into intricately worked objects resembling artifacts.
